The Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs on Wednesday, 1 April, reported that the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 41 in the country, while the number of cases spiked to 1,834.

Coronavirus cases in Delhi have risen to 152 on Wednesday, including 53 who attended the religious congregation in Nizamuddin, PTI reported.

Tamil Nadu has reported 110 new cases of COVID-19 and Assam has reported eight – all connected to the Tablighi Jamaat gathering.

Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man from Mumbai’s Dharavi who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, in the locality’s first recorded case and death.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the novel coronavirus pandemic as the disease barrels across the globe.

“The states are arranging food and shelter for the migrant workers and 21,486 relief camps have been set up where 6,75,133 persons have been given shelter,” Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secy, Home Ministry said during the address.

120 Positive Cases in Delhi, Requested Centre for Testing Kits: CM Kejriwal

“120 positive cases reported till this morning. Total of 766 people are admitted to the hospitals of Delhi due to Corona. Out of them 112 are positive, rest are possibly infected and are being tested,” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, addressing the media on Wednesday, 1 April.

“We have requested Centre to provide us testing kits, other medical equipment,” he added.

The chief minister also said that about 10 lakh poor people do not have ration card in Delhi. “I request them to apply for the ration card on Delhi govt's e-district website. They will not get the card but we will give them ration till the COVID-19 issue persists,” he said.

He further announced that passes will be given to two employees or the owner of every private company so that they can go to their respective offices to calculate and transfer the employees' salaries. The passes will be valid for two days.

Delhi Police has booked 44 Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus drivers for carrying migrant labourers on 29 March, ANI reports. The FIR states "the bus drivers, conductors and head of DIIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System) CK Goyal and other Govt servants have committed an offence."
