Fire breaks out at high-rise in Kolkata
A major fire broke out at a residential building in Bhawanipore area of Kolkata on Monday, 30 March, morning, police said.
The blaze erupted on the 15th floor of the building around 10 am, they said, adding, some people are likely trapped inside, they said.
"Around 10 fire tender engines have been pressed into service. We have already evacuated people on the lower floors. Rescue efforts are underway," a fire service official said.

Senior Official from India Resigns from UN Post
A senior official from India has resigned from his position of Representative of the UN Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.
Sudhir Rajkumar had been appointed to the role by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in October 2017.
No reason was given for the resignation in the statement.
He resigned from his role as the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, effective at the close of business on 31 March, a statement issued by Guterres' spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
