The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought the Centre's stand on a plea by former RSS ideologue K N Govindacharya for removal of fake news and hate speech being circulated on social media and online platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google.
A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar also issued a notice to Facebook, Google and Twitter on the plea which has sought details about the designated officers of these platforms.
The court will hear the matter on 13 April.

A man was killed after being trampled by an elephant in West Bengal's Alipurduar district on Wednesday, police said.
Mahadeb Tirkey came in front of a tusker while on his way to his roadside eatery in Latabari area of Kalchini block, a police officer said.
Tirkey was trampled by the pachyderm and he died on the spot, the officer said.

A 55-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district, police said on Wednesday.
The police on Monday arrested Bhikhabhai Sidi for allegedly raping the minor who was visiting a relative at Chhachhar village with her mother, an official from Talala police station said.
The incident took place on Sunday when Sidi lured the victim, took her to an isolated place and raped her before escaping, he said.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he added.
Three militant associates of Jaish-e-Mohammad, including a minor, were held and arms and ammunition recovered from their possession in Kashmir's Budgam district, police said on Wednesday.
They were active in the area for the past few months, they said.
"(Based) on a specific input, security forces arrested Dilawar Sofi and Sameer Yousuf Ganie, who are associates affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM. The third associate held is a minor. All of them are residents of Chadoora, Budgam," a police spokesperson said.

Five officials of Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), some of them now retired, were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Sadar police station in Nagpur, an ACB statement said on late Wednesday night, reported PTI.
