The total movable assets of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who on Tuesday, 21 January, filed his nomination for the 8 February Assembly elections, have gone up by about Rs 8 lakh since 2015 and that of his wife by Rs 41 lakh.
In 2015, Kejriwal declared the value of his movable assets at Rs 2,26,005, which has increased to Rs 9,95,741 in 2020 - an increase of Rs 7,69,736. The self-acquired immovable property of Kejriwal and his wife remained roughly the same as in 2015.

One person was killed and two others injured in a blast that ripped through a private chemical factory in Thane on Wednesday, 22 January, officials said.
The explosion, followed by a fire took place in a dryer in the factory in the MIDC complex in Badlapur around 9 AM. There were many other employees working in the morning shift when the explosion took place.
The company has been identified as K.J. Remedies and 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The cause of the blast is not yet known. The injured were shifted to hospital.

In an interview with ANI on Wednesday, 22 January, Maharashtra School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad said the reading of Preamble after prayers will be mandatory from 26 January in every primary & school in the state: The motive she said, is to tell the children about the constitution, its principles and other laws laid down by it.
“If a child reads Preamble everyday and takes oath, he understands that he is a citizen of India. Similarly, he should understand the things laid down by the Constitution & learn those values,”she said.

Seven villagers have been killed in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand for allegedly opposing Pathalgarhi, police said on Wednesday, 22 January.
Inspector General of Police (Operation) Saket Kumar Singh said that the police reached Burugulikera village on Tuesday night after getting information about seven villagers being killed and their bodies dumped in a forest.
A panchayat representative was among those killed, he said.

One person was detained by security agencies in connection with a case involving suspended Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Davinder Singh, who was caught ferrying militants, officials said in Jammu on Wednesday.
Irfan Mushtaq is kin of a militant arrested along with Singh and is being questioned by a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is likely to be arrested, they said.

In a setback to the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, the opposition TDP-dominated Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Wednesday decided to refer to a select committee two Bills aimed at creating three capitals for the state.
After five-hour long acrimonious debate and noisy scenes over rules and procedural issues followed by pandemonium, the 58-member Upper House, where the ruling party has only nine members, resolved to refer the Bills to the select committee as demanded by the Telugu Desam Party.
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order by which it had refused to direct the AAP government to grant sanction for prosecution of former JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar in a 2016 sedition case.
