Ranchi Court Issues Summon Against Rahul Gandhi Over 'Modi Chor Hai' Statement

The Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday issued a summon against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after a complaint was filed in the court over his alleged statement 'Modi chor hai'. He has to appear before the court on 22 February.

CBI Arrests Two Conmen for Posing as Senior Officers

The CBI has arrested two persons for allegedly threatening and demanding bribe from a bank fraud case accused, impersonating as senior officers of the agency by spoofing the landline number of the central agency, officials said.

This is third such case recently where people have spoofed the landline number of the agency to demand bribe from suspects in a case probed by the agency.

Delhi Court Convicts 2 Men in 5-Year-Old Girl's Rape Case

A Delhi court convicted two men on Saturday for raping a five-year-old girl in east Delhi in 2013.

Additional Sessions Judge Naresh Kumar Malhotra convicted Manoj Shah and Pradeep Kumar in the case, and said the child, who was just five years old, experienced exceptional depravity and extreme brutality.

BJP Leader Mukul Roy Being Interrogated in Hawala Case

BJP leader Mukul Roy is being interrogated by Kolkata Police in a hawala case in Kalighat Police Station. A Court had earlier ordered the police to file an FIR in the case. He has been named accused in the FIR by Kolkata Police.

Sonowal Expands Cabinet

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expanded his ministry on Saturday with the induction of two ministers of state with independent charge.

Sanjay Kishan and Jogen Mohan were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Jagdish Mukhi at a simple ceremony in the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here.

Both Kishan and Mohan are first time BJP MLAs and represent Tinsukia and Mahmora assembly constituencies respectively.

The portfolios of the new ministers were yet to be announced.

Army Jawan Commits Suicide in JK's Udhampur

An Army jawan committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in a camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said on Saturday.

Sepoy Prince Kumar (25), a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, was posted in 112 Territorial Army and was on guard duty when he shot himself at Chinar camp in Rehambal area on Friday, a police official said.

The official said that the motive behind the extreme step was not known immediately.

The body of the deceased would be handed over to his unit after the completion of medical and other legal formalities which were underway, he said.

Former BJP MP and senior journalist Ashwini Kumar Chopra passed away in Gurugram on Saturday, 18 January. He was suffering from cancer.

2 Protesters Killed in Baghdad

Two protesters were killed and over a dozen wounded in central Baghdad on Friday in renewed violence between anti-government demonstrators and Iraqi security forces, activists and officials said.

Riot police fired tear gas and hurled sound bombs to disperse crowds on the strategic Sinak Bridge after protesters attempted to breach cement barriers previously erected by security forces, causing the casualties, activists and medical and security officials said.

A case has been registered against a person at Khurja police station for circulating a 16-page PDF file, 'Naya Bharatiya Samvidhan', on social media with a picture of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Indonesian Woman Tries to Enter Nepal on Fake Visa; Arrested

An Indonesian woman was apprehended by Immigration Department in Sonauli when she was trying to enter Nepal on a fake visa.

Ashutosh Shukla, SSP said,"the woman has been identified as Rohana Emam Sabri and she was arrested. Case has been registered."
