US Senate Likely to Begin Trump Impeachment Trial

The Senate is likely to begin the impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump on January 21, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday.

McConnell's remarks came after Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House would vote on Wednesday and send its impeachment trial to the Senate.

The 435-member US House of Representatives, where Democrats enjoy a majority, last month charged Trump with "high crimes and misdemeanours" and impeached him for pressuring Ukraine to investigate a political rival.

Student Fatally Shot at Texas High School; Suspect at Large

A student was shot to death Tuesday at a Texas high school, and a suspect remained at large, officials said.

Grenita Latham, interim superintendent of the Houston Independent School District, confirmed the shooting victim at Bellaire High School had died. She gave no other information except that classes will go on tomorrow and took no questions.

Michael Patra Appointed New Deputy Governor of RBI

Michael Debabrata Patra has been appointed deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), according to a Personnel Ministry order.

He has been appointed to the post for a period of three years, it said.

Patra, who is looking after the monetary policy department as the executive director, will be the fourth deputy governor of the RBI. The post was lying vacant after Viral V Acharya had resigned from the post in June last year.

Goods Train Details Near Kurla; Harbour Line Services Hit Mumbai

A goods train derailed on Kurla- Trombay line here around Tuesday midnight, disrupting services on the Central Railway's Harbour Line and stranding scores of commuters in local trains and on stations, an official said.

No casualty was reported in the incident, he said.
