Trump Says He Might Keep Others From Listening in on Calls

President Donald Trump has said that he might end the long-running practice of letting other administration officials listen in on presidential calls with foreign leaders.

That's after Trump's impeachment was triggered by his July phone call with the president of Ukraine.

“I may end the practice entirely,” Trump told Geraldo Rivera in a radio interview that aired Thursday, 13 February.

Records experts said that was a bad idea, for multiple reasons.

US Attorney General Says Trump Tweets 'Make it Impossible' to do Job

US Attorney General Bill Barr has accused Donald Trump of hampering the work of the Justice Department, saying the president's tweets were making his job "impossible".

"I have a problem with some of the tweets," Barr said in an interview with ABC News, adding: "I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me." "I think it's time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases," he said.

Gunshots Fired in Thai Capital, No One Hurt

Police in Thailand say multiple gunshots have been fired into the air by a man in the middle of the capital Bangkok.

Emergency rescue services say no one has been hurt. Thai media report that police have cleared the area around the building where the man is, and family members are trying to convince him to surrender.

Inflation Rate Based on WPI at 3.1% for January

The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index, stood at 3.1 percent (provisional) for the month of January 2020 (over January 2019) as compared to 2.59 percent (provisional) for the previous month and 2.76 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year, the government said.

Antarctica Registers Record Temperature of 20.75 Celsius

Scientists in Antarctica have recorded a new record temperature of 20.75 degrees Celsius (69.35 Fahrenheit), breaking the barrier of 20 degrees for the first time on the continent, a researcher said on Thursday.

Brazilian researcher Carlos Schaefer told AFP the reading at a monitoring station on Seymour Island "has no meaning in terms of a climate-change trend," because it is a one-off temperature and not part of a long-term data set for that location.

2 Killed, 1 Injured in Accident in Nashik

Two persons were killed and another seriously injured when a speeding vehicle hit the motorcycle they were riding here in Maharashtra on Friday, police said.

The accident took place near Chehedi on the Nashik- Pune Highway at around 12.20 pm.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Adarsh Rohidas Karad (18) and Aakash Ravindra Gawali (21), residents of Vijaynagar.

Mumbai: Man Gets Life in Jail for Killing Drunk Person

A court in Mumbai sentenced a 42- year-old man to life imprisonment for killing a person who was drunk at the time.

Pradeep Varekar was found guilty recently under IPC section 302 (murder) by additional sessions judge Kishore M Jaiswal for killing Rupesh Mayaker near the latter's house in Ghatkopar in June, 2016.

As per the prosecution, Mayaker was drunk and his conduct annoyed Varekar who hit the former with a wooden plank several times, killing him on the spot.

2 Killed, 7 Injured in Road Accident in Rajasthan's Alwar

Two people were killed and seven more injured when a van collided with a car coming from the opposite direction in Alwar district of Rajasthan on Friday, police said.

The accident occurred near the Alampur area in the district, they said.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital in Tatarpur, where van driver Roshan (27) was declared dead on arrival.

GoAir Appoints Vinay Dube as CEO

Wadia group-promoted GoAir on Friday said it has appointed Vinay Dube as the airline's Chief Executive Officer.

Till now, Dube was serving as an advisor to the carrier, a role which he took up after quitting the defunct Jet Airways in May last year.

GoAir's board has approved the appointment of Dube as the CEO and he would report to the Chair0man, Managing Director and the board, a release said.
