A 48-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob in Jharkhand’s Bokaro after he allegedly stole a battery from a vehicle, police said. Mubarak Ansari (48) and Akhtar Ansari (26) were attacked in Bokaro’s Govindpur early on Wednesday when they were returning home with the stolen battery, police said. As of now, police said, it does not appear that the two were attacked because of their religion.
This is the 22nd death due to mob violence in Jharkhand in the past three-and-a-half years.

A parliamentary standing committee headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor will take up the WhatsApp snooping case in its next meeting on November 20, sources said on Wednesday.
Tharoor, who heads the parliamentary standing committee on information technology, said in a letter to his panel members that alleged use of the technology for snooping on Indian citizens was a matter of "grave concern" and it would be discussed at the committee's next meeting on 20 November.

Prominent Muslim body Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said the Supreme Court's verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case will be acceptable to it, and appealed to Muslims to respect the verdict.
Jamiat President Maulana Arshad Madani asserted that Muslims' claim in the case is based on historical facts and evidence that the Babri Masjid was constructed without demolishing any temple or any other place of worship. At a press conference here, he urged all citizens to maintain peace irrespective of the nature of the verdict.

US President Donald Trump has offered to help Mexico hunt the killers of nine Mormon women and children shot dead in a lawless border area -- and said the US stood ready to back its southern neighbour in a "war" on the drugs cartels.
Gunmen ambushed the members of the LeBaron family -- a large clan of Mormons who emigrated to Mexico in the late 19th century -- on a rural road Monday between the states of Sonora and Chihuahua, which border the United States.
Mexican officials said six children were also wounded and another girl was missing after the attack, which left the family's three cars riddled with bullets and badly charred, as seen in images posted on social media by devastated relatives.

Govt of Andhra Pradesh has accorded permission to Commissioner of School Education to convert all govt, MPP schools and Zilla Parishad schools and all classes into English medium from classes 1 to 8 from the academic year 2020-21 and for classes 9 and 10 from the academic year 2021-22.
However, it says, the Commissioner shall take appropriate and adequate efforts to implement Telugu/Urdu as compulsory subject depending on the current medium of instruction in all the schools compulsorily in line with the govt orders in the matter.
