4 Dead in Anti-UN Protests in Eastern DR Congo

At least four protesters were killed in eastern DR Congo, the military said, after angry clashes erupted over the perceived failure of UN peacekeepers to stop deadly militia attacks.

Crowds defied warning shots fired by Congolese forces and stormed a UN camp, which had apparently been evacuated, after rioting broke out in the eastern town of Beni on Monday.

A federal judge has sentenced a Chinese businesswoman to eight months in prison for trespassing at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and lying to Secret Service agents

Judge Roy Altman also ordered Monday that 33-year-old Yujing Zhang be deported after completing her sentence.

Indian-American Student Sexually Assaulted, Strangulated to Death in Chicago

A 19-year-old Indian-American student was sexually assaulted and then strangulated to death in Chicago, police said about a brutal murder that has shocked the community in the United States.

Ruth George, originally hailing from Hyderabad and an honours student at the University of Illinois, was found dead in the back seat of a family-owned vehicle in a campus garage on Saturday.

The assailant, Donald Thurman, 26, was arrested Sunday from a Chicago metro station. He is not associated with the university. On Monday, he was formally charged with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault for killing George.

Hong Kong Leader Admits Vote Revealed 'Unhappiness' With Govt

Hong Kong's deeply unpopular leader Carrie Lam acknowledged Tuesday that a crushing defeat for the city's pro-Beijing establishment in weekend polls revealed public discontent over her government's handling of months of political unrest.

The elections showed concern over "deficiencies in the government, including unhappiness with the time taken to deal with the current unstable environment and of course to end violence", Lam said at a weekly press briefing.

Bindu Ammini Allegedly Attacked on Her Way to Sabarimala

Bindu Ammini, one of the two women who first entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala shrine, was allegedly attacked in Kerala today. She has been rushed to the hospital.

She was reportedly on her way to visit the Sabarimala temple during the pilgrimage season along with five others, including activist Trupti Desai.

Strong Earthquake Hits Albania, Injuring at Least 150

A strong earthquake shook Albania early Tuesday, injuring at least 150 people and damaging buildings.

The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.4 quake was centered 30 kilometers northwest of the capital, Tirana. It was at a depth of 20 kilometers. The quake was felt along the Albanian coast.

People reported seeing cracks in their apartment walls. People were seen leaving homes to go to open areas.

China Summons US Ambassador Over Hong Kong Rights Bill

China has summoned the US ambassador to demand that the United States scrap legislation backing Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement, or "bear all the consequences", the foreign ministry said Tuesday.

The Hong Kong bill awaiting President Donald Trump's signature supports human rights and democracy in the city, while threatening to revoke the territory's special economic status.

A separate measure bans the sale of tear gas, rubber bullets and other equipment used by the security forces to suppress pro-democracy protests.

Vice foreign minister Zheng Zeguang summoned US ambassador Terry Branstad on Monday to voice a "strong protest" over the bill, the ministry said in a statement.

26-Hr Countdown for Launch of Cartosat-3 Begins

The 26-hour countdown for the launch of earth imaging and mapping satellite CARTOSAT-3 along with 13 other nano-satellites from the US commenced, Indian Space Research Organisation said on Tuesday.

The space agency has planned for the launch of CARTOSAT-3 satellite, ninth in the series, from the second launch pad at spaceport of Sriharikota, about 120kms from here on 27 November at 09:28 am.

"26 hours countdown for the launch of PSLV-C47 mission commenced today at 07:28hrs from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota. Launch is scheduled at 09:28 hrs IST on 27 November 2019," ISRO said in its update on Tuesday.

'Armed Men' Hijack Papua New Guinea Plane, Steal Baggage

A charter airline in Papua New Guinea on Tuesday said armed men hijacked one of its planes, forced the pilot to fly to an unused airstrip before making off with the cargo.

Tropicair told AFP that eight armed men approached the plan as it was refuelling in Gasmata, on the island of New Britain and forced him to take off.

A company spokesman said there were no other passengers on board.

2 Killed, 3 Injured as Car Crashes Into Tree in UP's Bijnor

Two people were killed and three injured when a car crashed into a tree near Kamrajpur village here on Tuesday, police said.

Dozens of Chinese nationals have been arrested in Indonesia over an online scam that bilked victims out of millions of dollars, authorities said Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off from their Chinese counterparts, Indonesian police said they conducted a half dozen raids Monday evening in the capital Jakarta and Malang city, arresting 85 Chinese nationals and six Indonesians.

The Centre has asked IAS officers to file details of their immovable property in time or face disciplinary action, according to a personnel ministry order.

An officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) shall submit an annual return in a specified form, giving full particulars regarding the immovable property inherited, owned or acquired by him or held by him on lease or mortgage, either in his own name or in the name of any member of his family or any other person, according to the rules.

Albania Earthquake Kills 8; Rescuers Hunt for Survivors

Rescue crews used excavators to search for survivors trapped in toppled apartment buildings after a powerful pre-dawn earthquake in Albania killed at least eight people and injured more than 300.

The 6.4 magnitude quake was felt across the southern Balkans early Tuesday and was followed by multiple aftershocks. In nearby Bosnia, another temblor with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 struck southeast of the capital and rattled Sarajevo.
