Hillary Clinton Posts Parody Kennedy Letter Mocking Trump

Hillary Clinton on Sunday posted a joke letter on Twitter supposedly sent by John F. Kennedy during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, written in the excitable style of US President Donald Trump's recent letter to Turkey.

The parody letter, which has been doing the rounds for some days on social media, is written on mocked-up White House letter paper and addressed to Russia's then leader Nikita Khrushchev.

"Don't be a dick, ok? Get your missiles out of Cuba," starts the letter pretending to be from president Kennedy.

Lebanon Announces Economic Reforms on Fifth Day of Protests

Lebanon's cabinet Monday approved a raft of economic reforms and agreed on the 2020 budget, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said, after growing protests fuelled calls for his government's resignation.

Speaking in a televised press conference after a cabinet meeting, the premier said the measures were not merely an attempt to quell demonstrations.

"These decisions are not designed as a trade-off. They are not to ask you to stop expressing your anger. That is your decision to make," he said.

"Your movement is what led to these decisions that you see today," he added.

9 of Family Killed in Pakistan Road Mishap

Nine members of a family including three children and as many women were killed on Monday when an ambulance collided with a truck, leading to a blast in Pakistan's Punjab province, according to a media report.

The family members including a patient were travelling in the ambulance when they met with the accident at Mianwali area in Multan, about 340 kms from here.

The vehicle was heading towards Rawalpindi from Bhakkar city when it collided with the speedy trailer truck, leading to the death of the nine persons of the family including three children and as many women, Geo news reported.

Winter Session of Parliament from 18 Nov to 13 Dec, Say Sources

The next session of Parliament will be held from 18 November to 13 December, sources said on Monday.

A number of bills are likely to be taken up during the Winter Session. Further, two crucial ordinances are on the list to be converted into law during the session.

"The next session of Parliament will be from 18 November to 13 December. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has communicated it to the secretariats of both Houses," a source said.

One ordinance reducing the corporate tax rate for new and domestic manufacturing companies to arrest slowdown in the economy and boost growth was issued in September to give effect to amendments in the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Finance Act, 2019. The second ordinance, also issued in September, banned the sale, manufacture and storage of e-cigarettes and similar products.

13 Injured in Blast in Fire Cracker Manufacturing Factor

At least 13 people were injured, two of them seriously, in a blast in a fire cracker manufacturing factory in lower Assam's Barpeta district on Monday, officials said.

The workers of Assam Fireworks Industry were manufacturing firecrackers when a sudden blast occurred and the fire injured 13 workers, including two seriously with almost 50 percent burn injuries, the officials said.

The cause of the blast could not be ascertained immediately, the officials added.

Woman Shot Dead in Group Clash in West Bengal's Birbhum Village

A woman was shot dead when two groups clashed over a trivial matter in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Monday, police said.

The clash broke out between the two groups at Hatserandi village under the jurisdiction of the Nanoor police station over a trivial matter. One Shankari Bagdi (55) was shot dead in the clash, they said.

Superintendent of Police Shyam Singh said the situation is now under control.

Bus Crash in Congo Kills at Least 30, Injures 16

Congo's presidency says at least 30 people have been killed and 16 others injured in a bus accident in southwestern Kongo Central province.

The statement from President Felix Tshisekedi's office says the provincial governor is opening an investigation into Sunday's accident. It says Tshisekedi canceled a trip to Japan because of the crash.

The president visited the city of Mbanza-Ngungu on Monday to express his condolences.

Nawaz Sharif Platelet Count Critically Low, Hospitalised

Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in the custody of the country's anti-graft body here, was hospitalised on Monday night after his health condition deteriorated.

The three-time prime minister's platelet count was critically low and doctors advised immediate hospitalisation.

"Former PM Nawaz Sharif is detected to have critically low Platelet Count (16*10^9/L) that could be due to multiple pathologies and requires immediate in-hospital care," Sharif's personal physician Dr Adnan Khan said in a tweet on Monday.
