Two Hizbul Terrorists Arrested in J&K’s Ganderbal

Two terrorists belonging the pro-Pakistan outfit Hizbu-ul- Mujahideen were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Monday, a police spokesman said.

Acting on a credible information, police along with security forces arrested two terrorist identified as Chandi Khatana and Wajid Ali Khatana, both residents of Jandiwada Rajouri, he said.

According to police records, both of them were part of the proscribed terror outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and were acting as couriers for active terrorists, spokesman said.

Despite Defections, Facebook Officially Launches Libra

Facebook officially moved forward with its plans Monday to create a new digital currency called Libra, despite several high-profile defections from the project and intense criticism from US regulators and politicians.

The Libra Association, the nonprofit that will govern the currency, officially signed on 21 charter members on Monday at the organization's inaugural meeting in Geneva. Originally the Libra Association had 27 potential members, but several companies dropped out in recent days, including Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.

Targeting Turkey's economy, President Donald Trump announced sanctions aimed at restraining the Turks' assault against Kurdish fighters and civilians in Syria, an assault Turkey began after Trump announced he was moving U.S. troops out of the way.

PM Modi: Ayushman Bharat Programme Empowering Several Indians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the progress made by the government's flagship Ayushman Bharat programme under which 50 lakh beneficiaries have been treated free of cost. He described it as an important milestone towards a healthy India.

"It would make every Indian proud that in a year, over 50 lakh citizens have benefited from free of cost treatment thanks to Ayushman Bharat," PM Modi tweeted.

Uber Taxi Driver Attacked, Injured by Passengers in Kerala

An Uber taxi driver in Kerala was attacked on the head with an iron rod by two people who had hired the vehicle, before they escaped with the car. The taxi driver was taken to a nearby hospital.

The car was later found abandoned near Kalady in Ernakulam district.

Jhansi: Fire Breaks Out, Four Members of Family Die

Four members of a family died after a fire broke out in their shop-cum-residence In Jhansi, police said.

DIG (Jhansi range) Subhash Singh Baghel said four members of grocer Jagdish Udainiya's family died in the fire which erupted at around 2.30 AM.

Neighbours alerted the fire brigade and rescued five other family members staying on the first floor.

Five Killed as Car Falls into Gorge in Dehradun

Five persons, including three members of a family, were killed and two others injured when their car fell into a deep gorge in Tehri district of Dehradun.

There were seven passengers in the car when it fell into a 300-metre deep gorge near Silasu bridge, police said.  Five persons were killed on the spot including a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, they said.

Felt Insulted at Durga Puja Carnival: West Bengal Governor

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said he felt insulted at the Durga Puja carnival in the city, while also asserting that nothing would deter him from performing his constitutional duties.

According to sources, Dhankar was not happy with the sitting arrangement at the carnival organized by the TMC government to showcase some of the big-ticket pujas.

Exports Decline 6.57% in Sept; Trade Deficit at 7-Month Low

India's exports remained in the negative zone for the second consecutive month in September contracting by 6.57 percent to 26 billion dollars mainly on account of significant dip in shipments of petroleum, engineering, gems and jewellery and leather products.

Imports too declined by 13.85 percent to 36.89 billion dollars in September, narrowing the trade deficit to a seven-month low of 10.86 billion dollars, according to the government data released on Tuesday.

Two Involved in Over Dozen Cases of Robbery in UP, Delhi Nabbed After Shootout

Two men involved in over a dozen cases of robbery and snatching have been nabbed by the Special Cell of Delhi Police following a shootout at Wazirabad Burari road on Tuesday night, police said.

Police uniforms, two pistols and a motorcycle were seized from them.

The incident took place at around 10.15 pm when a police team stationed on Wazirabad-Burari road near Jagatpur flyover spotted a motorcycle coming from Wazirabad side and signalled it to stop but the bike-borne miscreants opened fire on police team, they said.
