Nielsen Says 13.8 Mn Watched Trump Impeachment Hearing

An estimated 13.8 million people watched live coverage of diplomats William Taylor and George Kent on the first day of the House's public impeachment hearings on President Donald Trump.

The Nielsen company said 10 different networks aired live or taped coverage of the hearing, which stretched nearly six hours on Wednesday. A second hearing is scheduled for Friday, 15 November.

An on duty 25-year-old Navy personnel Akhilesh Yadav shot himself on Thursday with his rifle at INS Angre. He was rushed to INHS Asvini but was declared brought dead. Colaba police has registered 'Accidental Death Report' and is investigating the matter further.

BJP Activist Held for Objectionable Social Media Post

A Bharatiya Janata Party activist has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district for allegedly posting an objectionable message on social media, police said.

Shubham Goel was arrested from Budhana town on Thursday. A case has been registered under Section 153B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, an officer said.

The cyber cell of the Uttar Pradesh police is monitoring social media to check objectionable messages in view of the judgement in the Ayodhya case.

CBI Sets up Specialised Unit to Tackle Child Porn

The Central Bureau of Investigation has a set up an online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (OCSAE) Prevention/Investigation Unit at its headquarter to counter the growing menace of child porn on the Internet, officials said.

The new "specialised unit" under the special crime investigation wing of the agency will collect intelligence not only on those who are allegedly creating and transmitting such material on the Internet but also those who are browsing and downloading such material, they said.

AAP Report: Party Funds Rise From Rs 6 CR to Rs 10 CR, Donations Nearly Double

The AAP's total funds rose from Rs 6.06 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 10.11 crore in 2018-19 with donations to the party nearly doubling in the same period, according to its annual audited accounts submitted to the Election Commission.

Under the 'donation and contribution' section, the report showed that the party's income went up from Rs 10.61 crore to Rs 19.31 crore.

Clashes Break out in Bolivia, Challenging Interim Government

Security forces in Bolivia clashed with supporters of former President Evo Morales in a central town, escalating the challenge to the interim government and deepening the country’s tumult.

Thousands of largely indigenous protesters had gathered peacefully in Sacaba in the morning. But fighting began when many tried to cross a military checkpoint near the city of Cochabamba, where Morales’ supporters and foes have clashed for weeks.
