Bolivian Troops to Join Police in Seeking Calm

The head of Bolivia's military says that following reports police have been overtaxed by weeks of unrest, the armed forces will now provide help in keeping order.

Gen. Williams Kaliman said Monday night the joint police-military force will seek to "avoid bloodshed" and he called on Bolivians to help restore peace.

The announcement came as supporters and opponents of former President Evo Morales clashed in Bolivia's streets. Morales resigned Sunday after weeks of protests over a disputed presidential election.

Boeing Says 737 Max Expected to Resume Flying in January

Boeing on Monday said it expects the 737 MAX airplane, which was grounded after two crashes killed 346 people, to resume flying in January, delaying its return by one month.

In a statement, the group said it still hopes to receive certification next month from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), allowing it to resume MAX deliveries to airline customers before the end of the year.

“In parallel, we are working towards final validation of the updated training requirements, which must occur before the MAX returns to commercial service, and which we now expect to begin in January,” Boeing said.

It had originally planned for the model to resume flying in December.

15 Killed, 40 Injured as Two Trains Collide in Bangladesh

At least 15 people were killed and 40 others were injured as two trains collided in Bangladesh, reported Reuters. According to the news agency, rescuers are battling to pull passengers from the wreckage.

One train was headed towards Chittagong and the other was on its way to Dhaka when the accident occurred. The cause of the incident is not yet known, but the government has ordered an investigation into the matter.

7 Dead, 5 injured in an Accident in Rajasthan's Bikaner

Seven people died and more than five people injured in a collision between a car and a truck in Deshnok in Rajasthan’s Bikaner earlier today.

Seven Killed in Road Accident in Bikaner

Seven persons were killed and several others injured when a mini bus and a jeep collided head-on in the district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred near Palana village.

Most of the victims were occupants of the jeep and were on their way to Bikaner from Churu.

Traffic Resumes on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

Traffic on the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for nearly two days following a massive landslide at Ramban district, officials said.

However, despite undertaking a major operation to clear the snow, the traffic on the Mughal Road, which connects the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir's Shopian district, remained closed for the seventh day, they said.

2 Killed, 12 Injured as Tractor Falls Into Gorge in Badaun

Two women were killed and 12 others injured when the tractor trolley they were travelling on fell into a gorge after being hit by a speeding bus in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district, police said on Tuesday.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, the accident took place on Monday night at around 11 pm on a bypass on the Bisauli road.

The Andhra Pradesh Government has scrapped the plan to develop a 6.84 km as a start-up area in the capital city of Amaravati. A government order (GO) issued late on Monday stated that the agreement with Singapore Consortium to develop the greenfield start-up area has been terminated, and orders were issued to the Andhra’s Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) not to proceed with the project anymore.

33-Year-Old Woman Killed by Friend in OYO Hotel in Delhi's Alipur

A 33-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her male friend in an OYO hotel room in Outer North Delhi's Alipur area, police said on Tuesday.

They said the victim, a resident of Khera Kalan, had checked into the hotel with one Vikki Mann (21) on Monday to celebrate his birthday.

While they were drinking alcohol, a quarrel ensued between them over a petty issue on Monday night following which he hit the woman on her throat and she lost consciousness, said Gaurav Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North).

Pak Cabinet Allows Nawaz Sharif to Travel Abroad for Treatment

Pakistan Cabinet on Tuesday decided to allow former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment if he agrees to sign surety bonds making a commitment that he would return after the treatment and face cases against him.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, approved removal of Sharif's name from the no-fly list (Exit Control List-ECL).

Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad told media that the Cabinet conditionally allowed Sharif to go abroad.

Two Naxals Held in Chhattisgarh

Two Maoists including a woman were arrested on Tuesday in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said.

Laluram Veko (20) and Lekam Budhri (20) were arrested from Tumnar forest area, a local police official said.

Veko was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head.

Security forces had received a tip-off that the duo were planning to attack police personnel in the area, he said.

Turkey Police Rearrest Journalist Ahmet Altan Anakara

Turkish police acting on a court order have rearrested journalist and novelist Ahmet Altan, just a week after his release from prison over alleged links to the failed 2016 coup.

Altan and another veteran journalist Nazli Ilicak were released on 4 November despite having been convicted of "helping a terrorist group".

The Istanbul court sentenced Altan to more than 10 years in jail, but ruled that he and Ilicak should be released under supervision after time already served -- around three years each.

Bolivia Senate Leader Declares Herself President

An opposition leader in Bolivia’s Senate has declared herself the country’s interim president after the resignation of Evo Morales.

The 52-year-old Jeanine Añez took temporary control of the Senate late Tuesday, putting her next in line for the presidency.

Lawmakers of Morales’ Movement for Socialism party were not present when Añez made the announcement.
