Three minors, who were speeding on a scooter without wearing helmets, met with a fatal accident after their vehicle rammed into a pole near Delhi Gate area, police said on Sunday, 1 December.

Hospital Boundary Wall Damaged After Fire Broke out in Kolkata

The boundary wall of a private hospital in Kolkata was partially damaged and several shanties beside it were gutted in a blaze in the city on Sunday, 1 December, officials said.

The fire, triggered by an LPG gas cylinder explosion in a shanty in Kasba area at around 3:30 am on Sunday, was extinguished by seven fire tenders within an hour, a fire brigade official said.

No casualty has been reported so far, he said.

Four Get Life Term for Killing Dalit Man 17 Years Ago

A special court in Muzaffarnagar has awarded life term to four persons including a former village head for killing a Dalit man 17 years ago over old enmity.

The special SC/ST (Atrocities) Act court judge Pankaj Kumar Aggarwal also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 each on the four accused -- Kalku (the former village head), Ali Hasan, Noor Hasan and Ishver -- after holding them guilty under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code.

In the order announced Saturday evening, the judge also directed the convicts to pay half of the fine amount to the victim's family.

AAI Recommends Centre to Privatise 6 Airports Including Amritsar, Varanasi

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has recommended the Centre to privatise airports at Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur and Trichy, a senior government official said.

The recommendation came as the central government has already privatised airports at Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati for operation, management and development through public-private partnership (PPP) model in February this year.

ED Says Muzaffarpur Cas-Accused Brajesh Thakur Transferred Govt Funds for Personal Benefits

Brajesh Thakur, the main accused in the sexual assault case of several girls at a shelter home in Bihar's Muzaffarpur, transferred government funds meant for child welfare for his personal benefits and illegal activities, an ED probe has found.

The federal investigation agency had filed a criminal case of money laundering against Thakur, his family members and others in October last year after reports of sexual abuse of minor girls at the shelter house run by Thakur's NGO- Sewa Sankalp Vikas Samiti- came to light.

Indian Army Constructs Asia's Highest Bridge at Indo-China Border

The Indian Army has constructed Asia's highest bridge at the Indo-China border or the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

Built by the Border Road Organisation (BRO), the Colonel Chewang Rinchen Bridge connects Durbuk and Daulat Beg Oldie in eastern Ladakh.

The construction of the bridge makes the delivery of necessary goods and weapons, to the Indian troops stationed at the border, easier.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the government will implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across India. Addressing an event in Jharkhand's Bokaro, Rajnath Singh said, "We will implement NRC across all states of the country."

Speaking on the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the Union minister said, "We are going to build a grand temple of Lord Ram at the birthplace of Ramlalla, as promised by us in every manifesto."

19 Dead in Siberia After Bus Plunges Onto Frozen River

Russian emergency officials say 19 people were killed when their bus plunged off a bridge onto a frozen river in eastern Siberia.

Another 22 people were injured in the Sunday accident, Russian news agencies cited the Emergencies Ministry as saying.

Initial investigation indicates that a front wheel on the bus failed as it was crossing a bridge over the Kuenga River about 4,900 kilometers (3,100 miles) east of Moscow.

Rail Bhavan Protest: Court Discharges CM Kejriwal, His Deputy

A Delhi court has discharged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and AAP MLAs Somnath Bharti and Rakhi Birla in a case of allegedly violating prohibitory orders in the national capital and obstructing public servants during an agitation in 2014.

Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar passed the order on a plea by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators challenging a magisterial court's July 5 order by which charges were framed against them, paving the way for their trial.

The sessions court said there was no sufficient evidence to put them on trial.

9 Killed, 3 Injured in South Dakota Plane Crash

Nine people died and three more were injured when a single-engine plane bound for Idaho crashed shortly after takeoff in South Dakota.

Peter Knudson with the National Transportation Safety Board told The Associated Press 12 people were aboard the Pilatus PC-12 when it crashed about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims. Brule County emergency manager Katheryn Benton told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that the passengers ranged in age from 7 to 81. She said the three survivors were three men ages 28, 27 and 17.
