Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Appointed WB Congress Committee Chief

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was on Wednesday appointed the West Bengal Congress Committee chief.

"I want to thank my party for keeping faith in me at this crucial juncture. My aim would be to strengthen the organisation and put up a strong fight against both the communal BJP and the undemocratic TMC," Chowdhury said on his appointment.

PM Modi Launches Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, E-Gopala App

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Rs 20,050 crore-Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) as well as the mobile app, e-Gopala, that will provide farmers a marketplace for their livestock.

The national launch of the PMMSY in 21 states will boost the fisheries sector, Modi said.

PM Modi Talks to Japanese PM Abe Over Phone

PM Narendra Modi and Japan PM Shinzo Abe held a telephonic conversation, Anurag Srivastava, Spokesperson, MEA said.

“This was a very warm conversation between the two leaders, recalled memories of early meetings in Varanasi, Sabarmati, Kobe, Kyoto & PM Modi's visit to PM Abe's ancestral home in Yamanashi,” he said.

“PM expressed gratitude to PM Abe for his personal leadership and commitment to enhance strategic partnership with Japan which covers several domains. They also discussed status of ongoing cooperation and reviewed various projects including Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed railway project,” he said.

“India-Japan agreement on reciprocal provision of supplies and services between Indian armed forces & self-defence forces of Japan also known as ACSA agreement was signed yesterday between Defence Secretary and Japenese Ambassador,” he added.
