Thanks to the BJP’s latest social media campaign before elections, ‘chowkidar’ has become the latest buzzword online, replacing last season’s favourite word ‘chaiwala’.

You must have noticed several leaders from the ruling party and its supporters adding ‘chowkidar’ as a prefix to their Twitter handles.

As part of his ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi even interacted with more than 25 lakh security guards (aka chowkidars) across the country on 20 March, via an audio bridge.

But not without a bit of an ‘oops’ moment.

If you listen carefully to the audio uploaded by the BJP on its official YouTube channel, at around 4:50 minutes, you can hear a robotic voice notifying a food order.

“You have a new order. Please check your screen. Please note the delivery executive will be assigned only after you check the order.”

Yes, the Prime Minister’s sincere and heartfelt address to 25 lakh security guards of the country was interrupted by a notification from a food delivery app about a new order that was placed – relatable AF, right?

Amid the whole ‘chaiwala-chowkidar’ debate, we wonder if ‘delivery-wala’ is the ultimate winner!
