The social media furore around Dangal star Zaira Wasim’s recent tryst with online trolls hadn’t yet died down, when BJP minister Vijay Goel decided to take both his feet... and jab them right into his mouth. And honestly, it was deeply uncomfortable to watch.

Goel tweeted to Wasim saying:

The picture he tweeted to her implied that women in a burqa were caged, and in Wasim’s journey he found a reflection of women breaking out of the cages of (Islamic) oppression.

Wasim was, however, quick to disassociate herself from Goel’s rhetoric and told him what she thought of his unwarranted paternalism.

Wasim’s tweets say it all. Goelji, take your feet out of your mouth, and stop patronising women.
