Ahead of the crucial India-Pakistan match at Old Trafford, a Pakistani channel called Jazz TV put out a promo that has caught the ire of many in India.

After the Pulwama attacks earlier this year, tensions between the two countries had escalated to the point of air strikes.

The promo features a man similar to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who is depicted sipping tea.

When Varthaman landed on the other side of the border, the Pakistani Air Force released a video to prove to the world that they are taking good care of the Indian officer.

Varthaman had the same response to many questions that were posed to him by the officers – that he is not supposed to divulge that information.

In the promo, a man with Varthaman’s trademark moustache and wearing the Indian cricket team’s jersey says, “I am sorry, I am not supposed to tell you that, sir,” to every question asked of him about India’s strategy for the game.

This is not the first time that ad-makers on the other side of the border have used the video as fodder.

Here’s hoping that the conversation around the match will be about the cricketing abilities and not the strained relationship of the neighbours.
