As Sachin Tendulkar, former Team India captain, turned 44 on Monday, cricketing circles and fans took to social media to convey their wishes. Although the Master Blaster retired from international cricket in November 2013, he has maintained a steady alliance with the game, mentoring the Indian Premier League’s “Mumbai Indians”. Moreover, Tendulkar is a key member of the eminent Cricket Advisory Committee that offers counsel to the Indian cricket panel (BCCI), on important cricketing issues.

Among his many achievements, Tendulkar holds the record for becoming the first Indian to score 50,000 runs across all formats of domestic and internationally certified cricket, that is, First-class, List A and Twenty20. The recipient of multiple awards, the cricket legend was honoured with India’s highest civilian prize, namely, the Bharat Ratna, in 2014.
