People get a copy of Playboy (or go to its website) to see women in all their glory – not caring much for racial diversity. However, Playboy also features full-length article on a range of subjects, which you may not have noticed. But it’s okay, the more you know.
Playboy is now backing the hijab debate by featuring a hijab-wearing Muslim woman for the first time, reported news.com.au.
Noor Tagouri appears in the magazine’s October ’Renegades’ issue. A reporter with a video news network, she says that her experiences as a Muslim woman have made her a better journalist.
She explained that having seen her community being misrepresented in the media helps her assure people that she would not do the same to do them.
While the journalist has received her share of hate and online criticism, she “does not pay attention” to it.
As far as wearing the hijab on television is concerned, for her it was a no-brainer as that is what empowers her. Tagouri said that wearing a scarf on her head will in no way make her report any differently.
