Dhoni is back in Ranchi after playing the Vijay Hazare trophy semifinals in Delhi over the weekend.

India may have been steered to a draw by Australia in Ranchi, with just four wickets falling on the final day but the crowd at the stadium got their reason to cheer.

This one, not from the playing field though.

Just after the Tea break on Day 5, the broadcaster’s cameras zoomed into a certain former cricketer in the stands, also drinking a little chai. MS Dhoni had come out to support his former team-mates at his home ground.

MS Dhoni was in New Delhi during the last weekend, playing the semifinals of the Vijay Hazare trophy with his Jharkhand team. Up against Bengal in the final-four fixture, Dhoni’s team lost the match by 81 runs on Saturday. (Also read: Dhoni’s Phones Recovered, Firefighter Had Taken Them ‘By Mistake’)

Before the start of the Ranchi Test, India’s head coach Anil Kumble had said in the press conference that he wished MS Dhoni would come and support the team in his home town.

This is the first time Ranchi’s JSCA stadium is hosting a Test match.
