Netizens Laud Koch, Meir As They Complete 1st All Women Spacewalk
Netizens laud Meir and Koch on historic spacewalk as, US President Trump is fact checked while talking to them.
NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch created history as they became the first all-female team to complete a spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS). The spacewalk lasted for just over seven hours as both the astronauts were able to complete all their tasks.
History Makers Lauded
United States senator from California, Kamala Harris, commended the astronauts for the completion of a successful spacewalk and said, “These inspirational women are role models for young girls everywhere.”
US Senator from Alabama, Doug Jones, while congratulating Meir and Koch said, “Women have long contributed and led in our space program, so I’m sure today’s spacewalk is just another day on the job for these talented astronauts!”
The two astronauts were in constant contact with those on Earth, as they described how they felt during the spacewalk.
Hillary Clinton described how she wrote to NASA and “dreamed of being an astronaut” as a little girl. However, they wrote back and said, “they weren't taking girls”.
US President Donald Trump, who talked to the astronauts during the historic spacewalks, was left red-faced following his gaffe during their conversation, reported Vice. Trump congratulated the astronauts for completing “the first-ever female spacewalk”.
Meir was quick to make the correction as she said, “First of all, we don’t want to take too much credit, because there have been many other female spacewalkers before us.” She added, “This is just the first time there have been two women outside at the same time.”
