Harish Nayani, an erstwhile IAF fighter pilot and now a Captain flying for Indigo Airlines must have been having a regular day till he received a piece of information on board.
When he realised that he had Naik Deep Chand, a 1999 Kargil war hero, who lost both his legs and his right arm in the war, on board, he announced his presence on the flight to extend a gesture of warmth and recognition for the braveheart. And to little surprise, this announcement garnered a heartfelt applause from all of the 180 other passengers aboard.
The post reads:
When Rajiv Tyagi posted about the same on Facebook, the post was liked more than 8,000 times, with over 180 comments on it. Tyagi concluded the post by proudly asserting that,“This is all the recognition war heroes need, for acts no nation can repay them for.”
The post went viral in less than 6 hours and delighted netizens have been expressing their respect for both the veterans. Social media has been buzzing with appreciation for the war-hero and saluting him for his strength and service to the country.
The post and the comments on it have reiterated the need to identify and recognise unsung war heroes who have been endlessly working for the nation, and more often than not live in the caves of anonymity.
