John Promotes Movie Post N-Korea’s H-Bomb Tremors, Gets Flak

Crisis mein movie promotion zaroori hai?

Late Sunday morning, John Abraham declared on Twitter that the tremors felt on the bomb testing site in North Korea made his upcoming film Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran “even more relevant” and drew flak for promoting his movie in the face of potential crisis. He then deleted the tweet and shared bomb stats on his Twitter account later.

Even after sending out the second tweet, the actor was called out by Twitter users for using the stats to promote his new movie Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, which is slated for release in December this year.

Last week during the Ram Rahim trial and its violent aftermath, Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra was attacked on Twitter when he used the incident to promote his recently-released A Gentleman.

In a tweet that Malhotra later deleted, he had urged people to stay safe so that they could enjoy the film. Even though he had posted the tweet before violence broke out following the rape conviction, the actor was condemned for using the tension as a vehicle for film promotions.

Malhotra had later tweeted for clearing confusion regarding the timing of his actions, labelled as “dumb” or “stupid” by many.

Perhaps it’s time Bollywood actors pile on some mental muscle, and choose sensitivity and timing over mindless promotion.
