Jacinda Ardern Engaged To Clarke Gayford NZ’s ‘First Bloke’

You mean they are not yet married? Nope. NZ’s ‘first bloke’ just got engaged to the PM!

You mean they weren’t already married? You mean that devoted ‘full time dad’ who brought their little girl to the UN General Assembly was not already her husband? Well ring or no ring, wedding or no wedding Jacinda Ardern continues to set an example on how to live life and lead on your terms. According to this report at the NZ Herald her spokesperson announced that she was engaged over the Easter Weekend to her long term partner Clarke Gayford who is the father of their daughter Neve Te Aroha.

According to this report in stuff when asked at a radio interview last year if she will ever tie the knot, the Ardern reportedly said “I predict we will one day. We happen to have done things in reverse a little bit, but that happens in life sometimes too.’’ All we can say to that is Bravo, and we hope that women in India will one day be able to chose Prime Ministership first, motherhood next, then an engagement and maybe marriage.

So who is Clarke Gayford NZ’s ‘first bloke?’ We knew he is a devoted dad, but we now know that he met the PM at the Metro Restaurant awards in 2012. When master of ceremonies at the same award last year he announced that this was where he met his ‘future partner’. The radio and TV presenter currently hosts a fishing show called Fish of the Day.

At a celebratioin over the Easter weekend, Jacida Ardern NZ PM and Clark Gayford are said to have got engaged at Pike River on the West Coast of New Zealand on Friday. Ardern, 38, and Gayford, 41 have a daughter Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford who turns one next month.

What is thought to be diamond ring has been spotted on the Prime Minister’s left hand since the engagement. But as to who popped the question still remains unknown. She has however jokingly said that though she is an ardent feminist she won’t let Clarke Gayford ‘off the hook’ by popping the question herself and sparing him the ‘pain and torture of having to agonise over that question himself’.
