Festival hoppers, rejoice! Away from the maddening crowds that throng techno & EDM music festivals in the metros is another land, waiting to enthrall you with folk arts.

Madhya Pradesh is, hands down, the festival central of India, with events scattered throughout the year that leave their audiences spellbound.

Hanuwantiya, an island (yes, an island!) in the middle of Indira Sagar Lake, hosts the Jal Mahotsav where apart from water sports that pump your adrenaline, folk artists from various regions of MP come to regale the tourists with traditional dances like Badhai and Matki.

Gwalior, once home to the great Tansen, hosts the Tansen Sangeet Samaroh every year. The 4-day musical extravaganza sees musicians from all over the world pay their homage to the maestro.

Khajuraho, known for its sculpted temples courtesy the Chandela Dynasty (built between 950-1050 AD), offers another feast for the eyes - Khajuraho Dance Festival. The week-long festival offers the audience a spectacle of varied Indian dance forms.

So, plan your travels well!
