New Delhi, July 19 (IANS) A boy kidnapped from north Delhi in April has been rescued from Nepal and a couple hailing from the Himalayan nation arrested, police said on Thursday.
Police said that Poonam and Sonu, natives of Nepal's Rupandehi district, were arrested on Wednesday from Nepal during a raid by a team of Nepal and Delhi Police. The four-year-old boy kidnapped by them was rescued.
"The couple, working as labourers, was staying in Keshav Puram for the past 10 years. Both kidnapped the boy from their neighbourhood on April 5 due to their desire for a son and fled to Nepal. The couple has a biological daughter aged 10," Deputy Commissioner of Police Aslam Khan said.
The boy's parents, who too are labourers, filed a complaint, following which police found out from a CCTV footage that the two had abducted the boy.
