Bollywood is on a roll with movies on sexual health for both men and women. The latest in queue is Rajkumar Rao’s 'Made in China’. The quirky comedy shows Rao (as Raghu), who aspires to be a successful entrepreneur one day. His journey begins when he visits China and is convinced about the demand for a ‘Tiger Penis Soup’ for Indian customers — which is apparently ten times better than Viagra to enhance male virility. The pitch that a Chinese manufacturer makes to Rao happens as follows:

“What do Indians want?”

“Good roads?”

“No, Sex!”

This ‘soup’ is sold as the one-stop solution to all erection-related problems. In collaboration with a sexologist, played by Boman Irani, Raghu starts selling this product to troubled and unsatisfied women and men who visit the latter.

The entire business banks on perhaps the commonest insecurity of men, not being sexually efficient. Even in the trailer, we see Rao, nervously asking his wife, Mouni Roy whether she is completely satisfied with him in bed.

This Asian soup is prepared from tigers’ penises and is considered a substitute for Viagra — just that it is very expensive. However, scientific evidence for its effectiveness for male virility is lacking. 

‘Made in China’ falls in line with movies like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Khandaani Shafakhana, Kya Kehna, Vicky Donor and others, that got us talking about sex and sexual health.
