On World Disability Day, we rewind to a chat between actress Kalki Koechlin and disability rights activist Malini Chib, where they get talking about the special bond that they share in this exclusive tete-a-tete. Both Kalki and Malini were actively involved in the making of Sonali Bose’s Margarita With A Straw.

Malini Chib is also the author of One Little Finger, her personal tale of living a life with cerebral palsy. The book was written over two years as Malini could type only using her little finger.

Kalki and Malini developed a close bond during the making of Margarita With A Straw and inspired each other in equal measure. Kalki’s character in Shonali Bose’s film is hugely inspired by Malini and her zest for life.

Malini and Kalki’s big message is - Differently-abled people have regular physical and emotional feelings, so #FreeYourMind!

Shonali Bose’s Margarita With A Straw got rave reviews for its bold subject and stellar performances. Malini, was also the filmmaker’s inspiration for Kalki’s character, Laila, in the film. The BFFs talked about everything but the film – boys, alcohol and Amitabh Bachchan!
