After playing an aspiring rapper in Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh is attempting to do his part to help indie artists like his character Murad. The actor has launched his own music label INCINK in collaboration with filmmaker Navzar Eranee. It will be headed by musicians Anushka Manchanda and Shikhar Manchanda and initially focus primarily on hip-hop. Kaam Bhari, SlowCheeta and Spitfire, who were also seen in Gully Boy, are among the first artistes to have been signed on.
At the launch event in Mumbai, Ranveer explained that he has always been interested in underground music and has been harbouring this dream for a while.
“Remixes are great but it has to coexist with original music. 50 years later we need something to mix,” he added.
The event also marked the launch of 20-year-old rapper Kaam Bhaari’s first single ‘Zeher’, a hard-hitting track that challenges the prevalent notions of the Indian music industry.
