The country woke up to the news of iconic actor Sridevi passing away at the age of 54. Sridevi’s career shows how expressive and versatile an actor she was. From benchmark comic roles in movies like Mr India and Chaalbaaz to serious roles in Sadma and Khuda Gawah, she was an inspiration for the actors to come.

Not only were her acting skills fabulous, she was a great dancer too. The screen literally lit up every time she danced. The iconic Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau and Hawa Hawai are examples of how well-trained a dancer she was.

She began playing the lead in Tamil films at the age of 13 with Moondru Mudichu and was part of several popular hits including 16 Vayathinile, Sigappu Rojakkal, Premabhishekam and Moondram Pirai.

Sridevi’s debut as a lead in Hindi films began with Solva Sawan in 1978 and she never looked back. Films like Himmatwala, Mawali and Tohfa made her immensely popular among the masses. But it was her performance in films like Sadma, Mr India, Chandni, Chaalbaaz, Nagina and Lamhe that eventually made her a superstar.

The actor took a break from films after marrying producer Boney Kapoor in 1996. Sridevi made a comeback to films in 2012 with English Vinglish, which was big hit.

Her fans will get that one last chance to see her on the big screen in the upcoming Shahrukh Khan starrer Zero, set to release by the end of 2018. The actor will be sharing screen space with Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan.
