Mumbai Mirror takes tabloid sensationalism to the next level. In their bid to grab more eyeballs, they tend to make their headlines brazen. And ultimately take it one step too far.

Recently, the tabloid ran a headline on Manish Malhotra’s 50th birthday bash which was thrown by Karan Johar as “50 shades of Gay” with a strap-line reading as: Gaity, fun, high spirits and haute fashion.

And the implication of the same did not escape Twitterati. Many called them out on their use of the word ‘gay’.

Though some pointed out that it was meant to be another word for ‘happy’, no one was really buying that argument.
