The much-anticipated audio launch of Rajinikanth-starrer Kaala took place in YMCA grounds in Chennai on Wednesday, 9 May. During the launch, actor-turned politician Rajinikanth said that interlinking south Indian rivers was his “only dream”, and he will be happy to “die” after realising it.
Speaking about his party launch, Rajinikanth said that he has a “responsibility” but the date is yet to come.
“When the time comes all good things will happen to Tamil Nadu,” Rajinikanth said.
Speaking about Linga, one of the star’s earlier movies, he said:
However, he added, the movie Linga did not do well in the box-office.
The actor said he realised that he was 67 years old, and cannot “dance around with heroines” younger than his daughter. Therefore, he said, he realised that he should act his age.
Rajinikanth said that it was his daughter Saundarya who introduced him to the director, P Ranjith.
Ranjith reportedly told Rajini:
Kabali was the first film in 43 years that Rajinikanth has reportedly received a script for, the actor said.
Semma Weightu, a single from the film Kaala was released on 1 May, garnering over 3 million views so far.
The album preview video was released on 7 May, with composer Santhosh Narayanan sharing that the Tamil album of Kaala will have nine songs, while other language albums will have eight songs.
Earlier in the day, people protested that the film should not be released till theCauvery Water Management Board was set up.
The film is set to release worldwide on 7 June 2018.
