'Sacred Games' Season 2 Announced

Netflix has announced the much awaited second season of the critically acclaimed original series, Sacred Games. Based on author Vikram Chandra’s best-selling novel, season 1 of the series received viewer appreciation and critical acclaim worldwide for its gritty plot and power-packed performances. Season 2 will be back with a new trail of betrayal, crime, passion, and a thrilling chase through Mumbai’s underbelly.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will continue directing Ganesh Gaitonde’s track, while Neeraj Ghaywan (of Masaan fame) will take over Sartaj Singh’s plot. Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover will continue their roles of being the showrunner and the lead writer respectively.

A biopic on the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been a topic of contention ever since her demise in 2016. On Thursday, Chennai-based production house, Papertale Pictures, released the title poster of their project based on the life of the leader. Titled The Iron Lady, the film’s poster was unveiled on Thursday, by director AR Murugadoss, reports The News Minute.

TV Actress Alleges Rape on Pretext of Marriage

A Mumbai-based TV actress has alleged rape by a 25-year-old man at a hotel in Rajasthan's Neemrana, on the pretext of marriage, police said.

On Wednesday, the Neemrana police received a zero FIR from Oshiwara police station in Mumbai regarding the matter, said Sanjay Puniya, SHO, Neemrana police station, reports IANS.

He said summons have been sent to the accused and the victim has been asked to visit Neemrana for further investigation. However, both the victim and accused are yet to respond, he said.

'Manto' Morning Shows Cancelled; Nandita Das Disappointed

There was no first day, first show for Nandita Das' "Manto" in several cities in India, and that left the actress-filmmaker "hugely disappointed".

"Manto", co-produced by HP Studios, Filmstoc and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, traces the life of writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has brought the character to life.

The film released on Friday. But its morning shows were cancelled in several cities like Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad, reports IANS. Read more here.

'Batla House' to Release on Independence Day 2019, John Confirms

Actor John Abraham on Friday unveiled the first look of his film "Batla House", and announced that it will hit the screens on August 15, 2019, clashing with "Brahmastra" and "Made In China".

The "Batla House" makers is based on a real-life incident about the Delhi spot where a shootout took place in 2008.

John posted the film's poster on Twitter and wrote: "Every story has two points of view. One wrong. The other right. But what if the lines are blurred? Very very blurred!"

Rahman, Gulzar Create Official Song for Men's Hockey World Cup

Grammy and Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman, along with celebrated lyricist-poet Gulzar, has created the official song for Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018.

The Odisha government roped in Rahman for composing the song titled "Jai hind hind, jai India", which is penned by Gulzar.

"Nothing says India more than our beloved sport hockey. And nothing is more exciting than the world's biggest hockey tournament happening right here, on our turf," Rahman said in a statement.

"It's heart-warming to see the entire nation pledge their heartbeats for hockey. As an extension of pledging our heartbeats, Gulzar sahab and I have created the World Cup song. A song that will excite and inspire, as also get you on your feet," added the music maestro, reports IANS.

'Simmba', 'Zero' Clash Would've Affected Box Office Numbers: Rohit Shetty

Shah Rukh Khan's "Zero" and Ranveer Singh's "Simmba" are both much-awaited big ticket movies, which were earlier set for a clash during the Christmas season. Now they will release a week apart to avoid the box office collections getting affected, says "Simmba" director Rohit Shetty.

According to IANS, talking about the potential business that might get affected due to the release of these two films, Shetty said here on Friday: "I think one week is enough and there is no competition. Earlier we were planning to come on the same day, but then we went into a discussion.

"We decided not to come together because that would affect numbers. It was a mutual decision. If the film does well in the first week, it will go on."

'Love Sonia' to Be Screened at UN

"Love Sonia", a film about sex trafficking, will be showcased at the UN, marking its first screening in the US.

The movie will be screened at UN in New York on October 11, the International Day of the Girl Child. The screening will be hosted by the UN Office for Drugs and Crime and Indian anti-trafficking organisation, Apne Aap Women Worldwide, read a statement.

"Art is a powerful advocacy tool to raise awareness and we hope this beautifully acted thoughtful film will move people to take action against the scourge of sex trafficking," said Simone Monasebian, Director of the UN Office for Drugs and Crime, reports IANS.

'Manmarziyaan' Scenes Deletion Not a Big Deal: Abhishek Bachchan

"Manmarziyaan" actor Abhishek Bachchan, who features in a smoking scene which is among the three deleted scenes from the film, says there's no harm in excluding some content if it hurts people's sentiments.

Director Anurag Kashyap has been vocal about expressing anger over deletion of scenes from "Manmarziyaan", which apparently happened without his knowledge. The film's lead actress Taapsee Pannu also slammed the decision.
