Screenwriter Juhi Chaturvedi, who was one of the recipients of the 63rd National Film Awards which were given out yesterday, had a rather ironic tale to share.

While sharing her experience of the awards ceremony on Twitter, Chaturvedi said that though she got a National Award for a father-daughter film, her own 8-year-old daughter and her father could not see her receive the award.

Apparently, there was a confusion regarding the eligibility age of kids allowed to be part of the function. Chaturvedi says, as per the invite, children below 5 are not allowed in, however due to some last minute confusion, children below 15 were not let in. The writer’s husband and daughter had to eventually watch the event on TV in their hotel room.

It must have been a real disappointment for Chaturvedi’s family to have missed out watching her receiving the honour in person, and we hope the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting looks into this to avoid future embarrassment.
