In a new interview, Kangana Ranaut has dished out the details on her upcoming Jayalalithaa biopic, what drew her to the project and how she’s preparing.

The bilingual film, titled Jaya in Hindi and Thalaivi in Tamil, is set to go on the floors in October this year, Kangana told Mumbai Mirror. Kangana plans to prepare by learning Bharatanatyam since the late actor/politician was a trained classical dancer. She will be also learning Tamil so as to dub her own lines and his working on adopting Jayalalithaa’s mannerisms.

Kangana admitted that she didn’t know much about Jayalalithaa until she was offered the project. Once she started reading about the legendary CM of Tamil Nadu, she realised that their stories were alike even though their personalities were different.

“She (Jayalalithaa) was far more docile and refined in her demeanour, more sophisticated in her choice of words and always ladylike no matter what she was going through. But if you tried to run her down, she would always bounce back.

Kangana stated that the biopic will follow Jayalalithaa from her childhood and end with her becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

When asked about the question on everyone’s minds, Kangana replied that while she has been offered posts by many parties, she doesn’t want to join politics and do a half-baked job. “For now, I love being an artiste and this film will give me a taste of reel-life politics,” she added.

Finally Kangana shared that she is still working on the recently announced biopic of herself, but Thalaivi is her first priority.
