Nominations for First Ever Critics’ Choice Short Film Awards Out

The newly-formed Film Critics Guild has announced the nominations for the first ever Critics’ Choice Short Film Awards (CCSFA). Chairperson Anupama Chopra, Secretary Bhawana Somaaya along with fellow film critics Ajay Brahmatmaj and Suchitra Tyagi revealed the list of nominees live on Twitter.

The nominations span all the major categories in short filmmaking such as Best Film - Fiction & Non Fiction, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director - Fiction & Non-Fiction, Best Writer, Best Editor, Best Cinematographer, and Best Score. Five nominees were selected for each category from over hundreds of entries received.

The top nominations include Kirti Kulhari-starrer Maya, Kumud Mishra-starrer Listener, Priya Chauhan's Barsaat Ki Raat, South Indian actor Kani Kusruti's Maa, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli's Lakshmi, Nandu Madhav's Drainage, The Black Cat directed by Bhargav Saikia, Mad directed by Vinod Rawat amongst others.

Aiming to recognize and appreciate short films across the nation, the CCSFA is a first-ever collaborative effort of India’s most credible film critics and Motion Content Group.

The main event of the Critics’ Choice Short Films Awards will be held in Mumbai on 15th December 2018.
