Karishma Kapoor to Make Her Digital Debut
The actor will play Meira Sharma, a Mumbai mom and blogger.
Karishma Kapoor is set to make her digital debut in Mentalhood, a web series by ALTBalaji. Directed by Karishma Kohli, the show will explore the trials and travails of motherhood. Karishma, who is a mom to two kids off screen, will play Meira Sharma, a Mumbai mother who is trying navigate the world of parenting right and decides to start a blog to reach out to others like her.
Producer Ekta Kapoor took to Twitter to welcome Karishma into the ALTBalaji fold. “@altbalaji n I welcome Karishma Kapoor on board to frontline this amazing ensemble of mommies! She was d first n only choice n it took many meetings (n ten fully bound scripts) to get this perfectionist on board!!!” she wrote.
Speaking about making a foray into web series, Karishma told IANS, “The entire show is based on motherhood, the ups and downs, high and lows and all the various emotions of being a mom. I have been lucky enough to have such a wonderful career and I have done a variety of roles. This is something different for me...a different platform. I have been a radio jockey also. I like trying out different things.”
She explained her decision to go on a sabbatical in the early aughts save for a few special appearances in ads and films: “It (acting) is ingrained in you. It is something that never goes away. I was waiting for something really interesting. It was out of my choice that I didn't do any film because my kids were very young. It was out of choice that I wanted to be at home with my family and children.”
Karishma was last seen in Vikram Bhatt’s 2012 supernatural thriller Dangerous Ishq.
