Social media is the one thing that makes or breaks a brand. And when it comes to fashion, if birthday girl Kim Kardashian stands tall in the west, Sonam Kapoor does a pretty killer job in the east. If you look closely, Sonam seems to be following pretty damn well in Kim’s footsteps. So let’s see who pulls it off better-

Even though they’re celebs, who aren’t online to be social media influencers, it pretty much comes with the job. So, why not use that to make some moolah on the side? Naturally, brands would pay good money for such intimate marketing without having to rope in an expensive brand ambassador. Sonam, just like Kim, is her own brand now, thanks to her Instagram following.

Their marketing strategies are simple. A candid image naming the brand they’re wearing /using/eating dropped in rather casually, followed by a CTA telling fans how cool it is to try it on. #SimplySmart

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not pitting the two women, or their apps, against each other. They’re massive influencers in their own right when it comes to makeup, fashion, style and glamour. Though this is not the first time Sonam’s being compared to Kim Kardashian, but it is hard to ignore how much social media loves them both.

Kim of course is a lot bolder in her imagery, even if it’s about something as mundane as a late night run for gummy bears, but Sonam makes sure she’s loud and clear about what she thinks.
