Sonam Kapoor and Devdutt Pattanaik have fiercely opposed the statements made by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on homosexuality at JNU. When a student asked for advice over being mistreated by his friends and family for being gay, the “god-man” reduced the student’s sexuality to a “tendency”.

“This is your tendency now. Just acknowledge it and accept it, and know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I’ve seen many men who were gay, later on turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal — what are called straight people — end up being gay later in life.”<a href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Being%20Gay%20is%20a%20%E2%80%98Tendency%E2%80%99%2C%20May%20Change%20Later%3A%20Sri%20Sri%20Ravi%20Shankar&amp;url=https://www.thequint.com/news/being-gay-is-a-tendency-may-change-later-sri-sri-ravi-shankar-in-jnu/card/904001f6-5575-4cb1-afe5-83d707f104e0"><i><br></i></a>

Sonam Kapoor took to Twitter to express her disbelief over Sri’s comments, which was also retweeted by Alia Bhatt.

Devdutt Pattanaik too weighed in on the controversy, calling every thing temporary in this world, even gurus.

Even Human Rights Activist, Harish Iyer, called out Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s callous comment.
