Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s family is being dragged to court by the proprietor of an automobile agency, Parhad Amra, over an alleged Rs 21 lakh loan her late father Surendra Shetty had taken from him. As per the report in Mid-day, Amra claims that the amount was due in January 2017 with interest.

The Shetty family has denied the allegations. Shilpa released a statement to say she had no involvement in her father’s business:

“I have had no involvement in my late father’s business ever and have no knowledge of the financial dealing of the company at all. This gentleman is misleading the media. I knew him in the capacity of our family car mechanic, that’s all.”

The legal matter is expected to be heard on 29 January.

Amra has also claimed that Shilpa, her mother, Sunanda, and sister, Shamita were all business partners along with the late father. Amra claims that after Surendra’s death, the family refused to make the payment.

Amra's advocate Yusuf Iqbal told Mid-day, "The matter came up for hearing on December 8, 2018, and since no one from the Shetty family nor their lawyer were present for the hearing, the court directed Juhu police to make an inquiry under section 202 of Criminal Procedure Code and submit their report. The matter is slated for [hearing] on January 29."

Yusuf added that it is unfortunate that the Shetty family is refusing to repay the client, who dipped in his savings for the loan.

In response to the legal notice, the Shetty family has denied all charges. In a statement to Mid-day, Shilpa Shetty Kundra said, "I have never had any involvement in my late father's business, and have no knowledge at all of the financial dealings of the company. This gentleman is misleading the media. I knew him in the capacity of our family car mechanic that's all."
