Following Saira Banu’s appeal to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and filing a formal complaint last week, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has booked builder Samir Bhojwani for trying to use “forged documents” to grab actor Dilip Kumar’s Pali Hill bungalow.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Bhojwani has also been charged under the Arms Act following the seizure of 17 weapons, including knives and daggers, from his Bandra residence in a raid on Monday.

The raid came after Saira Banu’s complaint, where she accused the builder of cheating, forgery and being part of a criminal conspiracy. Bhojwani has been claiming ownership of two plots -- CTS nos C-1395 and C-1396 --at Pali Hill in Bandra, which Dilip Kumar said he bought in September, 1953 for Rs 1.40 lakh. Bhojwani on the other hand has been claiming that his father, Narain N Bhojwani, bought the property in the 1980s from the Mulraj Khatau Trust.

According to sources, Bhojwani is now on the run.

In August 2017, the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of Kumarin the long-pending case over his 2,412 square yard property in Bandra in Mumbai. The actor had an agreement with a real estate firm in 2006 by which they were supposed to develop the property. But no construction had taken place.

The Supreme Court restored possession of the property to the actor, against which he would have to pay Rs 20 crore to Prajita Developers Pvt Ltd. The realty firm had appealed for the enforcement of the agreement.

A bench of Justices J Chelameswar and S Abdul Nazeer turned down their plea saying that they didn’t “see any justification for the demand” and pointed out that the thespian actor would be unjustly facing financial loss if the agreement was allowed to continue.
