Bombay High Court Disposes of Petition Against 'Zero'

Bombay High Court has disposed of a petition against the wrong depiction of Sikh religion's Kirpan in the movie Zero, reports news agency ANI. The petitioner admitted in the court that his grievances were redressed by the amendments made to the scene in question. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.

Jaden Smith to Perform in India in February

American rapper-actor Jaden Smith is set to perform songs from his debut album "Syre" during his maiden gig in India in February.

He will perform here as part of the multi-genre Vh1 Supersonic music festival.

Artistes like American music producer-DJ Marshmello, British musician Bonobo and drum and bass band Rudimental will also be a part of the sixth edition of the fest, which will be held on February 16 and 17 at Mahalaxmi Lawns, Pune.

"Jaden Smith, Two Door Cinema Club, Gaiser and Breathe Carolina all play their first ever gigs in India at the sixth edition of our festival in Pune," the festival curator of Vh1 Supersonic, Nikhil Chinapa, said in a statement.

'Kadaram Kondan' Trailer Launch

Kamal Haasan and Chiyaan Vikram are joining hands for the Tamil film Kadaram Kondan. It’s produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Rajesh M Selva.

'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Trailer Release

The trailer of Spider-Man: Far From Home, starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Jake Gyllenhaal and Samuel Jackson, has just been released. The film releases on 5 July.

Sushant Singh Rajput Confimed in 'Rifleman'

Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen in another patritic film, Rifleman.

Manikarnika’s “Bharat” Is All About Soulful Patriotism

The latest song from Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, “Bharat”, is a patriotic number aimed at inspiring desh bhakti.

Penned by Prasoon Joshi and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, the soulful number is shot around Manikarnika’s introduction to patriotism by her father. Read more here.

Kangana Ranaut, who plays Manikarnika in the film, launched the song in Delhi with a ceremonial lamp-lighting.

Michelle Yeoh Stand-Alone 'Star Trek' Series in the Works

A new "Star Trek" show, fronted by Michelle Yeoh, is officially moving forward at CBS All Access.

According to Variety, the series will be written by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt.

The series would see Yeoh reprise the role of Philippa Georgiou, expanding on the character's current position as a member of Section 31, a shadowy intelligence agency operating within the Federation.

The actor said she cannot wait to see where the story goes and she believes it will go "where no woman has ever gone before".

"I'm so excited to continue telling these rich 'Star Trek' stories. Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play," she added.

Renowned Malayalam Director Lenin Rajendran Dies at 67

Eminent Malayalam filmmaker and chairman of the Kerala Film Development Corporation, Lenin Rajendran, Monday died at a private hospital in Chennai following liver related ailments, hospital sources said.

Rajendran, 67, recently underwent liver transplantation surgery.

He died at 8.45 pm, the sources said.

Known for his unique style of filmmaking, Rajendran had entered tinsel town by directing the movie 'Venal' during the early 1980s.

Deepika to Join Ranbir-Ajay in Luv Ranjan’s Next?

Director Luv Ranjan is all set to enter the Bollywood big league after the phenomenal success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. He has signed Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor for his next venture which is all set to go on the floors next year. But that’s old news. Word is that Deepika Padukone might be set to sign the dotted line for the film as well.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Deepika is the first choice for the film and Luv Ranjan is keen to sign her on.

Delhi Rolls out Red Carpet for Film Fest

The capital city has rolled out the red carpet for the first edition of the Diorama Film Festival, which has the aim of providing an impetus to filmmaking in Delhi and promote appreciation of cinematic art.

"Delhi is a growing city in terms of actors. It has given many talented stars to Bollywood. Diorama Film Festival is a great initiative and I wish Manoj Srivastava all the luck for the great start,' veteran actor Randhir Kapoor said at the fest's opening here on Monday night.

Actress Divya Dutta, one of the jury members at the gala, told IANS: "It's lovely that a film festival has come to Delhi."

The event, being held here till January 20 at the Siri Fort auditorium, is organised by Manoj Srivastava, who worked closely on the International Film Festival of India, Goa till 2012.

Vishal Bhardwaj Points out Glitch in National Anthem in Theatres, Rectified

A technical glitch pointed out by filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj in the national anthem played at movie theatres has been rectified. He has appreciated the authorities for their quick and efficient work.

In a tweet put out on October 29, 2018, Bhardwaj -- who also composes music -- said he had heard the national anthem produced by the Films Division and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting during the Mumbai Film Festival.

"There is a technical glitch at 'Gahe Tav Jai Gaatha'. It seems to be a sound transfer issue. Goes off tune and hurts ear and soul. Can Ministry of Information and Broadcasting please get this rectified?" Bhardwaj wrote.

First Look of '22 Yards' Released

The first poster for upcoming sports film 22 Yards has been released.

The film has been directed by Mitali Ghoshal and stars Barun Sobti, Amartya Ray, Rajit Kapur and Geetika Tyagi among others. It releases on 22 February.

Tillotama Shome Wins Best Actress Award at Belgium Fest

Tillotama Shome has won the Best Actress award for her performance in Rohena Gera's "Sir" at the Brussels International Film Festival.

"Thank you The Brussels International Film Festival for honouring me with the best actress award for 'Sir'. Thank you jury members," Tillotama, who plays the character of Ratna in the film, posted on social media.

Matthieu Van Lierde, the festival's Artistic Director, said in a statement: "The film was unanimously appreciated by all the members of the jury for the performance of its actors and for its direction. Both the jury members and the audience that has attended the screening were deeply moved and touched by Ratna's story and the delicate and sensitive way in which it is presented."

'Simmba' Crosses Lifetime Biz of 'Chennai Express', Becomes Biggest Rohit Shetty Hit

Ever since its premiere on 28 December, Simmba has had a roaring run at the box office. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Ranveer Singh-starrer has collected Rs 227.71 crore so far, surpassing the lifetime business of Chennai Express and making the film director Rohit Shetty’s highest grosser.

The makers of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga have revived another popular number — ’90s hit ‘Ishq Mitha’. While the original Punjabi song was performed by Bally Sagoo and Malkit Singh and featured Malaika Arora and Jas Arora, this version has been recreated by lyricist Gurpreet Saini and singers Navraj Hans and Harshdeep Kaur, with music by Rochak Kohli. The video for the peppy number features Anil and Sonam Kapoor grooving together.

Anna Faris congratulates Chris Pratt on engagement

Chris Pratt's ex wife Anna Faris has congratulated the actor on his engagement to girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenegger.

Faris hit Instagram to comment one day after Pratt shared that he had popped the question to Schwarzenegger following just seven months of dating, reported dailymail.co.uk.

The "Mom" actress, 42, wrote on his post: "I'm so happy for you both!! Congratulations!"

Faris and Pratt, 39, split up in August 2017 after eight years of marriage and have remained friendly exes for the sake of their son Jack, six.

They tied the knot in July 2009 when they eloped to Bali, Indonesia on a whim and they finalised their divorce just three months ago in October 2018.

'Mission Impossible' 7 & 8 Confirmed

Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Agent Ethan Hunt on the big screen with Mission Impossible 7 and 8. The two films from the popular franchise will premiere consecutively, the first in the summer of 2021 and the next in summer of 2022. The actor confirmed the news on social media.

Both films will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also worked on Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Mission Impossible: Fallout.

'The Accidental Prime Minister' Cleared for Release in Pakistan

The Accidental Prime Minister, which delves on former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's tenure, has been cleared for release in Pakistan with minor cuts, Pakistan's Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) said on Tuesday. The film will release in the country on January 18.

"The film has been cleared with minor excisions," CBFC chief Danyal Gilani told IANS .

Starring Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh, the film, directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte is based on an eponymous book by Sanjaya Baru, who was the former Prime Minister's media advisor.

Jayantilal Gada of PEN, the film's presenter, is glad the film is releasing in Pakistan. "PEN Studios is happy to announce that our one-of-a-kind political film, The Accidental Prime Minister, has got a green signal from Pakistan. Pakistani movie-goers will be able to enjoy the film. I always admired Imran Khan as a brave cricketer, and now I respect him as a Prime Minister too," Gada told IANS.

"I am also thankful to Pakistan's Censor Board chairman for approving our film," Gada added.
