Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s journey from the dusty lanes of Muzaffarnagar to the red carpet at Cannes is an awe-inspiring one. While the actor has withdrawn his memoir An Ordinary Life, which recounted the milestones in his life, his trips to the Cannes Film Festival has been well documented over the years.

Nawazuddin first hit the Cannes circuit in 2012 with Gangs of Wasseypur and Miss Lovely. Back in 2012, when Nawazuddin was a “newcomer”, all the designers that he had approached to tailor a tuxedo for him had reportedly refused to do so. Now, in 2018, Nawazuddin has Bollywood’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra, designing not one but three different looks for him as he hits Cannes once again with his film Manto.

Ahead of his Cannes outing this year, the actor tweeted his goodbye to his beloved tuxedo that he’s worn for the film festival, year after year.
