Hema Malini, Shabana, Poonam Dhillon Wish Lata a Speedy Recovery
The singer is being treated for a viral chest infection.
Bollywood celebs such as Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon and Shabana Azmi have taken to social media to wish Lata Mangeshkar a speedy recovery and appealed to fans to pray for her health. The veteran singer has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai where she is being treated for a chest infection.
“Prayers for @mangeshkarlata who is hospitalised & is reported to be in a critical condition. God give her the strength to come out of this crisis & continue to be in our midst. The nation prays for Bharat Ratna Lata ji, the nightingale of India,” tweeted Hema Malini. Shabana wrote that she hoped Lata would recover quickly and return home in good health.
According to media reports, Lata was rushed to hospital at 1:30 am on 11 November after the veteran singer complained of breathing trouble. PTI has reported that the singer singer is still in a “critical condition” but is “slowly improving”. Lata Mangeshkar’s PR team issued a statement on Tuesday, 12 November, saying, “Her parameters are good. Being a singer, her lung capacity has pulled her through. She is a fighter. We will update when Lataji gets discharged and comes home. (We) request that we give the family the space they deserve at the moment,” the statement read.
