Producer Harvey Weinstein is returning to court on Thursday, 20 December seeking to get the criminal charges against him thrown out. It’s his first public appearance in six months since his arrest in New York.

His star attorney Ben Brafman is pushing for dismissal of the sexual assault charges against his client. According to Brafman, police misconduct, specifically the work of one investigator, has "irreparably tainted" the case, reports AFP.

While one charge against Weinstein has been thrown out already, the producer, who has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by a number of women, is still facing five counts over an alleged rape in March 2013 and a forced act of oral sex in 2006.
