With PadMan releasing around the corner, the makers have initiated an interesting campaign in which Bollywood and other celebs are sharing their photos with sanitary napkins as part of the #PadManChallenge. The idea, they say, is to fight the taboo around menstruation, and everyone from Aamir Khan, and Alia Bhatt to Ayushmann Khurrana, Deepika Padukone and Rajkummar Rao have taken up the challenge.

Check out some of the celeb messages here:

While a lot of common people are taking to Twitter to participate in the campaign as well, not everyone is impressed. Some are talking about the #PadManChallenge being nothing but a publicity ruse for the film, which stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor, and will release on 9 February.

According to some others, the campaign would have been far more effective if the celebs had gone to remote areas and spoken about the cause and distributed free sanitary napkins. #PadManChallenge is nothing but empty posturing, they feel.

Some are even suggesting other campaigns around issues which are whispered about - condoms and underwear, for instance.

Ah, well.
