Anushka, John & More Tweet to Raise Awareness of Kerala Floods

As floods keep ravaging Kerala, Bollywood celebrities have taken it upon themselves to spread awareness of the situation and ask their fans to donate and support the victims any way they can. With rains still pouring down heavily leading to flooding of dams and rivers across Kerala, 12 fresh deaths were reported on Thursday, taking the toll to 79, since August 8.

Anushka Sharma tweeted details of the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund and helpline numbers across the state.

John Abraham shared that he was disturbed by the events since he had spent his childhood in Kerala.

Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth tweeted a letter urging people to donate and called it ‘Kerala Donation Challenge.’

Vivek Oberoi shared a service that allowed victims of the floods to make free calls.

Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Dulquer Salmaan also tweeted out the emergency details, urging followers to help.

Baahubali star Rana Daggubati shared pictures of the army helping out civilians.

Kerala has been on a red alert since Wednesday evening. A total of 28 deaths were reported on the day.

Pathanamthitta district in central Kerala has been the worst affected in the last 24 hours as thousands of people were trapped in their homes in Ranni, Aranmula and Kozhencherry.
