Actor-comedian Ali Asgar says he went to visit fellow comedian Kapil Sharma, who is reportedly battling with depression again after taking a break from his new show Family Time with Kapil Sharma. Asgar says he feels sorry for Kapil and that he is like “a child”.

Asgar told ABP:

“I heard Kapil is suffering from depression, I felt very bad. We all are with Kapil and will always be there for him. Preeti also called me that Kapil is not well and has apparently not even left his room for days. When I reached his office, Kapil was lying down. He was close to tears when he saw me and could not even speak. It is clear that he is missing all of us, especially Preeti. He is like a child who wants something but is not able to articulate it.”

Asgar also said he had been abroad and read about Kapil’s latest outburst and illness in the media, which is when he decided to visit him. Kapil Sharma’s team, however said that the comedian was not in the country, so couldn’t have met Asgar.

Kapil Sharma’s former manager, Neeti Simoes, had earlier shared an open letter to the comedian on Twitter, commenting on his mental state of mind. The comedian has been in the news since his fallout with Sunil Grover last year. Kapil’s new show Family Time With Kapil also reportedly went off-air after he cancelled shoots with various Bollywood celebrities. One factor which has led to this has been his phone call to an entertainment journalist where he hurled abuses at him, as well as his alleged alcoholism and depression.

Neeti and her sister, Preeti Simoes – creative director of Comedy Nights With Kapiland The Kapil Sharma Show – have been accused of being “responsible for driving Kapil into depression”. Neeti, in her open letter, writes that she wants to clear the air with Kapil and help him out during this trying time.
