Akshay Kumar has rubbished rumours that he will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the BJP from Amritsar. "No, I won't be contesting any elections," he clarified to the media while promoting his film Kesari.

The actor, who has featured in patriotic titles such as Airlift and Gold, told India Today earlier, “Politics is not on my agenda. I feel what I am doing through my films, I will never be able to do that through politics.”

Kesari, which releases on 21March and also features Parineeti Chopra, is based on the 1897 Battle of Saranghi, in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against a troop of 10,000 Afghan invaders. It has been directed by Anurag Singh and jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
